To a Very Special Woman,

Hello!

The challenge you are facing is great and we are both in awe and in envy of your strength and determination to give your child the best chance at life and love possible. We hope to be able to live up to the example of unconditional and selfless love you are showing and also to be worthy of the trust you may bestow to us.

We are David and Shannon; we have been married for 13 years, together for 15, and looking for you for many of those years even if we didn't know it! When we found out we could not have children of our own of course we were sad but at the same time we knew that we were looking for a child that needed us as much as we needed them. We have two younger cousins who came to us through adoption and have been shining examples of the best adoption can be. Both of them have two sets of loving parents and good relationships with their birth mothers.  We also have guardianship of our beautiful 8 year old niece! She is so excited at the possibility of being a big sister and is anxious to teach the new child games and her love of animals, which we have two dogs who think the world of her!

We met and fell in love in college 14 years ago. Since then we have been each other’s best friend, each other’s rock in hard times and cheering section in the good times. David spent many years in the United States Marine Corp and now works for the Department of Defense he has a degree in Criminal Justice. Shannon spent years bouncing around in medicine but recently finished her degree in psychology specializing in drug abuse recovery but is excited to be able to be a stay at home mom. We both have a fierce work ethic, belief in education and sense of honor that we hope to pass on to our children.

We both come from large, loving families and remain close to them still. We often take family vacations since our families are scattered around the country. We will all meet in a location, often overtaking a hotel or one time we went on a cruise and almost overtook the boat! We hope to continue traditions of family game nights (there isn't a card game Shannon didn't learn how to play growing up), camping (we love to get out into the wild!) and holidays at the grandparents!

We have a close-knit group of family and friends. Your child will be welcomed with open arms by all of our friends, many of whom have children as well. Our get-togethers are frequent and full of laughter. We love having themed parties, attending renaissance fairs and finding any excuse to costume up. Shannon and her friends are very crafty and sew, so costumes and toys are often homemade! We both are avid readers and look forward to being able to share the joy of books and imagination with our child, starting with books at bedtime!

We know you face a very tough decision but we want to offer you a few promises that we hope will match what you are looking for in a family for your baby. We will teach an appreciation of all the wonders of the world, to love deeply and sincerely, to make friends and welcome all with open arms and respect nature and nurture the spiritual nature within themselves. We will love this child unconditionally and we hope to also include you in this new family we are creating. We hope you want the same things as well and look forward to meeting you and your precious gift!
